It is important to understand and comply with national and local business legislation, as this is mandatory, the law and you will be penalised if you do not to do so. Failure to do so can be very costly, not least in causing a serious accident to occur. To find out which regulations apply to your business you can use this Regulation checklist tool.

If you want to understand and assess how well your businesses is handling health and safety in the workplace and benchmark against other businesses in the same industry you can try this Health and safety performance indicator tool for free.

The Health and Safety Executive is very active in ensuring Health and safety legislation is complied with, and polices this closely.
