Small firms need stress management
Oct 08 2007
Entrepreneurs must ensure that they, and their staff, have effective measures in place to counteract stress, experts have claimed.
According to the Stress Management Society, small close-knit companies often feel the cumulative effect of working worries more than larger companies.
Neil Shah, director of the Stress Management Society says: 'Ultimately if you don't manage stress, it can affect productivity and it can affect the efficiency of your organisation.
He added: 'In some cases it is probably more important for small companies to manage stress than it is for a large company.
'If stress becomes a problem in a small company it can have a much bigger impact, especially if one individual is involved in multiple tasks and it has an influence on their efficiency and productivity.'
Statistics compiled by the Health and Safety Executive reveal that between 2005 and 2006 some 420,000 claimed to be suffering from work related stress.
