Govt unveils employment support
Apr 02 2009
The government is to offer new skills support to employers to help them prepare for the eventual upturn.
Under the government's Solutions for Business initiative, the Train to Gain service will work alongside Business Link to provide a new way for firms to access free and impartial advice on how to develop a highly-skilled workforce.
The scheme will provide business owners with a diagnostic and information service, while they will be put in touch with a local broker who can direct them to training providers, show them how to receive funding and explain what courses are on offer in their region.
Lord Young, skills minister, says the government is committed to delivering real support to businesses, in order to help them survive the economic downturn and prepare for the eventual upturn.
He adds: 'The challenging economic climate means it has never been more important to ensure that employers get access to the support and advice they need - quickly and easily.'
The government unveiled the Solutions for Business initiative earlier this week, which aims to provide a streamlined portfolio of support products for issues such as starting up, innovation, exporting and skills.
