SMEs are being asked for their take on the issues they are facing for a wide-ranging small business survey.

The 2009 Business Pulse aims to probe 10,000 small-business leaders on the challenges they are facing, their level of optimism and the enterprise culture of the UK.

The findings will form the basis of a panel discussion on 19 October that will kick off proceedings at this year's Small Business Week, where government, business and independent organisations will come together to discuss key issues facing for the UK's 4.7 million-plus smaller enterprises.

I am incensed at the attitudes of banks and their lending policy. Business link and other bodies describe small businesses as start ups and year old companies. To get help from banks you need to be established with a good turnover. A complete opposite of descriptions. Banks do not want to know start ups even like us who have invested heavily into the business only to have the recession hit us which has dramatically affected our turn over. But look to the banks and they bury their heads. Alan Sugar says we should stop moaning and be talking to the receivers is that not the position of the banks if they had not had the bail outs from us.
