Small firms given chance to grow

May 18 2009

Small businesses in the East Midlands will be given support as the HighGrowth scheme takes on 60 new companies.

The business programme, supported by the East Midlands Development Agency (Emda), will help companies grow and increase turnover.

Firms with future growth plans are being urged to apply for the scheme, which will see them get specialised support for a year.

John O'Reilly, business support director at Emda, says HighGrowth gives 'vital guidance' to help small businesses cope with the challenges of the current economic climate.

'The programme also aims to equip businesses with the know-how to unlock their growth potential and development in the long term,' he adds.

Dynex, a designer and manufacturer of semiconductors, was a previous member of the programme, saying the support given was 'crucial' and it now predicts turnover to more than double in the next four years.

Small businesses in the East Midlands will also have access to the Grant for Business Investment programme, after Emda secured European funding.
