Q: If Monday is my normal working day should I be paid for bank holidays even though I don’t work on those days?

A recent employment tribunal case has held that where an employee works part-time, they will only be entitled to claim paid leave on a bank holiday if their full-time counterparts would be paid on a bank holiday. And if the part time worker would usually have worked on that particular bank holiday, so you can work out whether that would apply in your case.

The company i work for has just decided we can no longer get paid for bank holidays as this is a normal working day and if i take it off i have to take it as a holiday day. Can they do this?
