Q: When I’m travelling away from home on business, what expenses can I charge up?

You can charge up all your travel and accommodation costs, including petrol for your car or rail or air fares, plus your hotel or lodging expenses and meals if you are staying away. However, you are not normally able to charge up your lunch costs (the Inland Revenue’s view is that they should be no different from your normal lunch costs when you are working in your office).
