Answered by Carolyn Mumby, Employment Law Essentials, The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 state that yes you must provide ‘suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences’. These facilities must be provided seperately for both men and women unless there are separate cubicles which can be secured from the inside and must be maintained to ensure standards of cleanliness. The number of employees will impact on the number of toilets you must provide.
