There’s a Business Rating Helpline run by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (020-7222 7000). Not all chartered surveyors specialise in business rating work, but all those on the RICS scheme are. If you phone and ask for help, they will put you in touch with a local surveyor who will be prepared to give you 30 minutes of guidance free. As a result of this, you may find that you can go ahead and carry out the work yourself. Or if you feel you still need guidance, you could use your local surveyor or go back to the RICS for another specialist surveyor (but not another session of free advice!).
